The rules of Crapette

Everything you need to play — and to avoid being called out with “crapette”.

Aim of the game

Crapette is played by two people, each with their own 52-card deck. The first to get rid of all their cards wins.

Setting up

Each player shuffles their deck, then deals:

• the crapette — a face-down pile of 13 cards to the side (the number can be changed in the app settings); only the top card is turned up;

• four columns — one face-up card on each of the four columns in front of them;

• the stock — everything else, face down.

In the middle, eight spaces host the foundations, two per suit, built from Ace to King. The player whose first crapette card is highest begins.

Playing a turn

On your turn you chain as many moves as you can, then hand over. You alternate until one player has no cards left.

When nothing else can move, turn the top card of your stock and try to place it. If it fits nowhere, it goes to the waste pile and your turn ends. Once the stock is empty, the waste is turned over to rebuild it.

Where cards can go

• On a foundation: an Ace on an empty space of its suit, then the same suit in ascending order.

• On a column: a card of the opposite colour and one rank lower (a red Queen under a black King…). An empty column accepts any card.

• On the opponent's crapette or waste pile: a card of the same suit, one rank above or below.

Getting rid of your crapette comes first.

The “crapette” and faults

Before drawing or starting your crapette, every other option must be exhausted: building on a foundation, feeding the opponent's crapette or waste, freeing a column.

Skipping one of those moves is a fault. If your opponent spots it, they call “crapette” and play in your place. In the app the detection is automatic (and can be switched off): a short demonstration shows the missed move.
